Alan B. White is Co-Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of Hilltop Holdings and Chairman of PlainsCapital Bank. In 1987, Mr. White founded PlainsCapital Corporation, which acquired PlainsCapital Bank in 1988. White joined Hilltop Holdings as vice chairman after Hilltop Holdings’ acquisition of PlainsCapital Corporation in November 2012. He was named Co-CEO in 2016.
Mr. White leads Hilltop Holdings’ operating subsidiaries which include PlainsCapital Bank, PrimeLending, HilltopSecurities, and National Lloyds.
For almost three decades, Mr. White expanded PlainsCapital Corporation into a fully diversified financial holding company offering banking, investment banking, public finance advisory and residential mortgages. He led PlainsCapital Corporation’s acquisitions of Plains National Bank in 1988 (now PlainsCapital Bank); PrimeLending in 1999 and FirstSouthwest in 2008 (now a subsidiary of Hilltop Securities Holdings). In 2016, PlainsCapital Corporation was fully integrated into Hilltop Holdings creating a single cohesive holding company for the Hilltop family of subsidiaries. Mr. White is the champion of the relationship-based corporate culture that has proven key to success of Hilltop’s operating subsidiaries.
Mr. White serves on the board of directors of the 2014 NCAA Men’s Final 4 Local Organizing Committee, the Circle Ten Boy Scouts of America and the Cotton Bowl Athletic Association. He is chairman of the North Texas Super Bowl Committee and a member of the MD Anderson Cancer Center Living Legend Committee and the Dallas Citizens Council.
Mr. White previously served on the board of the Super Bowl XLV Host Committee. He also served as chairman of the Texas Tech Board of Regents. Other roles include serving as founding chairman of the Texas Tech School of Business Chief Executive’s Roundtable; a member of the Texas Tech University President’s Council; and a director on the Texas Hospital Association Board.
Mr. White received a B.B.A. degree in finance from Texas Tech University.
